Targowisko Sztuki (Art Fair) was created more than fifteen years ago on the initiative of students and graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and under the auspices of the Academy. A spontaneous action, aimed at representing the works of young artists, quickly became a cyclical event, gaining more and more popularity among both ordinary people in Warsaw and connoisseurs of art and talent seekers.

The first edition of this event took place in front of the building of the Academy of Fine Arts (Krakowskie Przedmieście), then also in commercial locations (for example, Harenda Hotel). Finally, it was permanently organized at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Here, in the climatic environment of the Kubicki’s Arcades, on an area of 2000 square meters, approximately hundred painters, traditional designers (linocut, lithography, etching, screen process, aquatint), illustrators, poster designers, photographers or sculptures (small sculpture) present their works of art. Visitors of the Art Fair cannot only get to know the latest trends in contemporary art, but first of all they can obtain works of art directly from the artists and take the opportunity of keep inspirational conversations.

The event has already become a part of the cultural calendar of the capital city and it is a regular event at the Royal Castle. Moreover, the event is very popular among designers, architects and enthusiasts of design, who find interesting themes for interior design in the works of exhibitors.
